Concrete Footings

Concrete footings, drilled and poured

Mr. Posthole pours concrete footings as well as drilling the holes for them. Kirk has a concrete mixer that mounts on the front of the mini skid, so the machine that drills your deck or pole barn footings can fill them too. Concrete piers are priced per pier, with a $600 minimum.

What does the concrete footing service cover?

We dig the holes, supply and pour the concrete, and set your brackets or J-hooks. You supply the brackets or J-hooks, and Sonotube forms if you want them. Pricing is per pier, with a $600 minimum.

Concrete footings or ground screws?

Ground screws usually cost a little more, and we still recommend them. You can build right away, the install is faster and cleaner, and every screw's capacity is verified by its torque reading. There's no deep digging next to your foundation, so there's far less risk to your drain tile. And there's no concrete to pour.

In silty sand, our 4.5-inch ground screw is rated for more than three times the load of a 12-inch concrete pier.*

*Based on the allowable compression capacity in ICC-ES ESR-4226 (Table 5, silty sand) and the residential code's presumptive soil bearing value for silty sand (IRC Table R401.4.1).

About ground screws

What do you need from me?

The address, your plans or a drawing with the number of footings, and their diameter and depth. Kirk files the MISS DIG ticket and won't drill until it clears.

“Kirk did an excellent job drilling our post holes! Even with concrete trash in the ground … Deepest hole was 10 feet down!!!”

FAQ

Concrete Footings questions

Do you handle the MISS DIG ticket?

Yes. Kirk files the MISS DIG ticket himself, through his contractor portal, for every job, commercial and residential. It's required by law and protects valuable infrastructure, and he doesn't drill without clearance. MISS DIG needs 72 business hours (Mon–Fri) to clear. A ticket submitted Friday at noon clears the following Wednesday at noon.

What size holes can you drill?

We run 8 auger sizes: 6, 8, 9, 12, 15, 16, 18 and 24 inches. The deepest we drill is 10 feet. Footings in Saline went the full ten feet, 18 inches wide, to reach undisturbed soil.

Will your machine fit into my backyard?

It needs a 42 inch gate. If your gate is narrower, fence sections can be removed for access. Tell us about the access when you call and we'll plan around it.

Is your work guaranteed?

Yes. If a hole isn't plumb or to depth, Kirk redrills it free.
