Extra-deep deck postholes in South Lyon
In August 2025 Mr. Posthole drilled 11 deck postholes in a new South Lyon, Michigan subdivision. The owner had just laid sod, so we worked from ground protection mats and kept the machine and all spoils inside the build area. Holes along the foundation went nearly 7 feet; the rest about 5 feet.
What we did
We drilled 11 postholes in a new subdivision in South Lyon, MI. Our customer had recently installed sod and was concerned about lawn damage. Using our ground protection mats, we were able to access the build area and drill the holes while keeping both the machine and all spoils in the build area, leaving the lawn outside almost 100% undisturbed.
The holes along the foundation are nearly 7 feet and the holes in the field are nearly all 5 feet. This was required to get to undisturbed soil to ensure a solid foundation for this new deck build.
